Does anyone have any information about the long term effects or complications when HSV2 has been present in the body for over 10 years? I have heard some information about possible liver, kidney,or lung problem due to this virus. Is it possible for HSV2 to bring on Hepatitis or anemia problems? Question I know that this virus can show up in the lungs and can be life threatening. What about the other organs?

Hi,
I have had HSV2 since 1986. That's about 23 years by my math. Wow, time flies when you're having fun (if this is fun). Anyway, I have a lot of experience - much more than I ever wanted.
Let's see, effects. Ok, I had a monthly outbreak when H and I were new friends, but over the years I have noticed that the outbreaks have gotten further apart as time went by, and I took Acyclovir off and on as needed until about 6 years ago when I took it as a prophylactic medication for 2 years or maybe 3. After I stopped the Acyclovir about 3 years ago, I haven't had an outbreak. I might also mention that I have never used or tried Lysine, or other homeopathic treatments. I have in the last few years, started usung real lye soap - which is good for the skin, but I have no idea if that may be of any help in avoiding outbreaks. I'm sure that many people here have better knowledge of the disease than I have.
Hope this might be some encouragement for you and others.
